DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team's second half rally came up short in a 15-11 road loss at the University of Dubuque.

Elmhurst dropped to 5-7 overall and 0-3 in the CCIW with the loss while Dubuque upped its record to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.

The two teams traded goals for the first 15 minutes of the game. Dubuque scored three straight goals to claim a 4-1 lead, but Elmhurst answered back with three consecutive goals from
Ellen Brown,
Tessa Sellentin and
Daniela Valerio to give pull even.

Dubuque surged in front before halftime, ripping off six straight goals to build a 10-4 lead.

Elmhurst quickly cut the lead in half to start the second half. Knoebel scored back-to-back goals and Brown scored off a Valerio assist to make the score 10-7. Dubuque took control over the next five minutes, scoring five straight goals to expand their lead to eight with 14 minutes remaining. Knoebel scored twice and Brown and Isabel Walked tacked on a goal apiece in the final 11 minutes to make the final score 15-11.

Dubuque outshot Elmhurst 30-25 in the contest while the Bluejays enjoyed a 24-19 edge in ground balls.

Knoebel led the way for Elmhurst with five points on four goals and an assist. Brown added four points with three goals and an assist while also adding seven ground balls. Walker scored two goals while Valerio totaled a goal and an assist for the Bluejays.
Megan Keener recorded seven saves in goal for the Bluejays.

Kori King paced Dubuque with six goals while Claire Carlson added six points on four goals and two assists.
