Bluejays Sweep Two From Clarkson

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Elmhurst baseball team ran its record to 8-3 on the season after sweeping both ends of a doubleheader from Clarkson University. 

The Bluejays shut out Clarkson 5-0 in game one and completed the sweep with a 4-1 victory in game two. 

ELMHURST 5, CLARKSON 0 (Game One) - Austin MacMillan tossed a complete game shutout in the Bluejays' 5-0 win over Clarkson in game one. 

MacMillan limited Clarkson to just six hits while not issuing a walk. He struck out four while improving to 2-0 on the season. 

The Bluejays grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third on Trey Compton's RBI double. A run-scoring double from Matt Wilson and an RBI single from James Wick extended Elmhurst's lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning. Elmhurst tacked on two runs in the seventh inning on an RBI triple from Compton and a run-scoring single from Tyler Kledzik.

 Compton and Wilson collected two hits apiece in the win. Compton drove in two runs and scored a run while Wilson scored a run and knocked in one. 

ELMHURST 4, CLARKSON 1 (Game Two) - Elmhurst upped its record to 8-3 on the year with a 4-1 victory in game two. 

Elmhurst scored the first four runs of the game before holding off Clarkson in the seventh. 

Kledzik started the scoring with a solo home run in the third inning. A run-scoring groundout and a wild pitch scored two run in the fifth for the Bluejays. A sacrifice fly from Trevor Horwath in the sixth accounted for Elmhurst's final run .

Clarkson scored a run in the seventh to cut into Elmhurst's lead, but Alec Berry fanned the final two batters of the game to record the save for the Bluejays. 

Kledzik recorded two of Elmhurst's seven hits in the victory. 

Jordan Scrimpsher picked up the victory for the Bluejays from the mound, working 6.1 innings and allowing just five hits and one earned run. He walked two and struck out two.
