ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Elmhurst women's tennis team upped its record to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the CCIW by sweeping a pair of conference contests at the Forest City Tennis Center.

Elmhurst upended Millikin University 8-1 and then defeated Carroll University 6-3 after moving their final two home games indoors to Rockford in order to dodge the rain hitting the Elmhurst area.

ELMHURST 8, Millikin 1 – The Bluejays opened the day with a convincing 8-1 victory over Millikin. The Bluejays swept the three double matches and five of the six singles contests en route to the win.

Chiara Gaudio and
Ysabel Gonzaga teamed at No. 1 doubles to defeat Morgan Bettner and Shelby Jones 8-5. The Bluejays' duo of
Rachel Rettger and
Kathryn Wheeler upended Danielle Beard and Katie Cooper 8-3 at No. 2. Elmhurst finished the sweep at No. 3 doubles when
Sarah Paist and
Maddy Freeman defeated Alena Hinch and Madeline Delano 8-3.

In singles play, Rettger dispatched Beard 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 while Gonzaga cruised past Jones 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. Wheeler made short work of Delano with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4. Paist upended Cooper 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5 and
Lindsey McAuliffe stopped Hinch 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6.

ELMHURST 6, CARROLL 3 – The Bluejays evened their conference record at 3-3 after doubling up Carroll 6-3. The Bluejays won two doubles contests and four singles matches in the victory.

Rettger and Wheeler combined to defeat Lora Leach and Allison Krusa 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Paist and Freeman toppled Shana Klenk and Jenna Boeck 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play, Gonzaga shutout Leach 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, while Wheeler blanked Krusa 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Paist knocked off Vanessa Ignatew 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and McAuliffe closed out play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Boeck at No. 6.
