ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped in a 9-0 road loss to Augustana College.
Augustana upped its record to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the CCIW with the win while Elmhurst slipped to 6-4 overall and 3-4 in league play.
The Vikings swept all three doubles matches before taking all six singles contests.
Elmhurst's No. 1 doubles squad of
Chiara Gaudio and
Ysabel Gonzaga fell 8-0 to Madeline Lombardi and Caitlyn Schaffer while the Bluejays' No. 2 duo of
Pamela Kobeszko and
Dacey Maglaque fell 8-1 to Annie Timm and Zeana Badawi. The Vikings completed the doubles sweep when Leraaen Abbott and Morgan Bullen downed Elmhurst's
Maddy Freeman and
Sarah Paist 8-2 at No. 3.
In singles play, Maleeha Chowdhury opened with a 6-0, 6-0 win over
Bridget Lopez at No. 5. Schaffer followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Gaudio at No. 1 before Badawi upended Gonzaga 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Lombardi blanked
Lindsey McAuliffe 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 before Timm downed
Rachel Rettger 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Kalli Majewski finished the sweep for Augustana with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Maglaque at No. 6.
Elmhurst plays at North Park University on Saturday, October 13.Â
