CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team upped its CCIW record to 2-3 by rolling past North Park 6-3.
Elmhurst (2-4 overall) swept all three doubles matches before taking splitting the six singles contests.
Elmhurst's duo of
Rachel Rettger and
Ysabel Gonzaga dispatched Vilde Olvin and Juviel Vinluan 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
Chiara Gaudio and
Kathryn Wheeler followed with an 8-6 win over NPU's Linnea Love and Linn Viuhkonen 8-4 at No. 2.
Dacey Maglaque and
Meg Simon scored an 8-5 win over McKenzie Harrison and Grace Pavlak at No. 3 doubles.
North Park (2-7, 0-5 CCIW) scored its only points in singles play. Olvin outlasted Gaudio 3-6, 7-6, 10-3 at No. 1 while Vinluan rallied to topple Gonzaga 1-6, 6-3, 10-4 at No.2. Love upended Maglaque 7-5 6-1 at No. 5 for the Vikings' final point. Elmhurst scored wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Rettger downed Viuhkonen 6-4, 7-6 at No. 3 while Wheeler dealt Katie Chelboun a 6-1, 6-2 loss at No. 4.
Bridget Lopez closed out No. 6 singles with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-6 win over Harrison.
Elmhurst hosts Augustana College on Sunday, October 1.
