SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Elmhurst volleyball team upped its record to 3-1 on the season after sweeping contests from Mills College at UC-Santa Cruz at the Slug Tournament in California.
Elmhurst, ranked 21st in the latest AVCA Division III poll, dispatched Mills 25-6, 25-5, 25-10 before upending the tournament hosts 25-19, 25-23, 25-18.
ELMHURST 3, MILLS 0 – Elmhurst picked up its second win of the season by breezing past Mills in thee sets.
Mel Lundin paced Elmhurst's attack, finishing with 10 kills while hitting .450 for the match.
Cyle Harrison added eight kills and seven digs while
Bailey Brouwer pounded down nine kills for the Bluejays. Rachel Schuty totaled a team-best 17 digs while
Amy Schryver picked up 5 digs for Elmhurst.
Taylor Zurliene added a match-high five aces for the Bluejays.
ELMHURST 3, UC-SANTA CRUZ 0 – Elmhurst closed out its California trip with a three-set victory over the tournament hosts, UC-Santa Cruz.
Elmhurst hit .146 for the match with 36 kills and 18 errors in 123 swings.
Bailey Brouwer led the way for Elmhurst with 10 kills while
Hannah Davis added seven kills and four blocks. Zurliene finished with six kills, two aces and six digs.
Alli Rogers added six kills, 10 digs and two blocks while
Mel Lundin totaled five kills. Schryver led the squad in digs with 21.
Elmhurst hosts the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday, September 6.
