KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team slipped to 1-2 on the season following a 9-0 loss at Carthage College.
Carthage (2-1) swept all three doubles matches before taking all six singles contests.Â
The Lady Reds' duo of Angelica Emmanouil and Max Mella downed Elmhurst's
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Rachel Rettger 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Carthage's Casey Frommer and Natalie Favia handed
Kathryn Wheeler and
Chiara Gaudio an 8-2 loss at No. 2 doubles. Elmhurst's No. 3 doubles pairing of
Dacey Maglaque and
Meg Simon fell to Lauren Woznicki and Hannah Haeberle 8-1
In singles play Frommer downed Gaudio 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 while Mella stopped Gonzaga 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. Emmanouil defeated Rettger 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 while Favia topppled Wheeler 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4. Woznicki (6-0, 6-0 win over Maglaque at No. 5) and Maria Salerno (6-1, 6-3 win over Simon at No. 6) closed out singles play with wins for Carthage.
Elmhurst hosts St. Norbert on Sunday, September 16.Â
