ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team suffered a narrow 5-4 loss to St. Norbert College in the Bluejays' home-opener at the Brune Tennis Courts.

St. Norbert (5-2) took two of the three doubles contests to jump out to an early lead before the two teams split the six singles matches. 

In doubles action, Elmhurst's duo of Chiara Gaudio and Kathryn Wheeler scored the Bluejays' only point, downing Jordyn Lawatsch and Claire Hetzel 8-5 at No. 2. 

In singles play, Gaudio distpatched Lawatsch 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 while Rachel Rettger defeated Hetzel 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3. Wheeler added a singles victory at No. 4, dispatching Stephanie Doerfert 6-0, 6-2. 

Elmhurst hosts North Central College on September 19.
