RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Zach Clements scored a pair of goals on penalty kicks to help lead the Elmhurst men's soccer team to a 3-1 road win at Dominican University.

Elmhurst improved to 3-1-2 on the season with the win while Dominican slipped to 3-2-0 with the loss.

The first three goals of the game were scored on penalty kicks. Dominican's Nestor Ascencio converted a penalty kick after being taken down in the box in the 19th minute to give the Stars an early 1-0 lead.

The Star's lead stood for the next 13 minutes before the Bluejays took control of the offensive flow. Clements was taken down in the box in the 32nd minute leading to the game-tying goal. Just 48 seconds later Sam Johnson was pulled down in the box. Clements converted the ensuing penalty kick to put the Bluejays in front 2-1.

Elmhurst held the one goal lead until the 77th minute when Buddy Nelson scored his first collegiate goal to help the Bluejays salt the game away. Austin Culver's shot was stopped by Dominican keeper Aaron Menyes, but Nelson capitalized on the rebound to give Elmhurst a two-goal lead. 

Dominican outshot Elmhurst 18-13 in the contest but both teams had nine corner kicks. 

Nick King picked up his third win of the season in goal for the Bluejays by recording five saves. Menyes took the loss for the Stars, allowing three goals while recording five saves.

Elmhurst hosts Loras College next Wednesday, September 20.
