MOLINE, Ill. – Ben Havel eclipsed 200 hits for his career and became the Elmhurst baseball team's career leader in doubles while helping the Bluejays split a doubleheader with with 14th-ranked Augustana College.

Elmhurst dropped the Vikings 16-13 in game one before falling to the Vikings 18-6 in game two. The two squads combined for 54 runs and 59 hits over the two contests. Elmhurst improved to 11-9 overall and 5-2 in the CCIW while Augustana moved to 18-4 overall and 5-2 in CCIW play.
ELMHURST 16, AUGUSTANA 13 (Game One) – Elmhurst banged out 19 hits while holding off a late charge from Augustana to take the opening game of the twin bill.

The Bluejays raced out to a 12-0 lead and led 15-5 before holding off a late charge from Augustana to preserve the three-run win.

Ben Havel's RBI single in the fifth extended Elmhurst's lead to 3-0. The Bluejays blew the game open in the sixth, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs. A two-run single from
Evan Berliner started the scoring and
James Wick followed with a run-scoring triple.
Reagan McReynolds knocked in a run with a single and Havel followed with a three-run homer. Wilson smacked a two-run homer to cap the Bluejays' nine-run inning.

Augustana used three extra-base hits, including a two-run homer from Peter Doughty, to push home five runs in the bottom of the sixth making the score 12-5 in the process. Havel, Wilson and
Christian Ott all banged out RBI singles in the seventh to extend Elmhurst's lead to 10 at 15-5.
The Vikings capitalized on a pair of Elmhurst errors in the bottom of the seventh to score seven unearned runs and close to within three runs in the process. The Vikings loaded the bases with no outs in the eighth, but managed just one run on a sacrifice fly.

An Augustana error in the ninth allowed Havel to score for an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Augustana brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but back-to-back pop outs ended the game for the Bluejays.

Havel led Elmhurst at the plate, finishing 5-for-6 with three runs scored and five RBIs. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. His double in the ninth is the 47th of his career, setting a new Elmhurst career record. The five hits bumped him up to 204 for his career, moving him into fourth-place all-time at Elmhurst. He's just the fifth player in Elmhurst history to record over 200 hits.
Wilson added three hits, scored two runs and knocked in four.

Havel picked up the win from the mound as well, working six innings and allowing six hits and five runs. He walked two and fanned four.
Adam Price recorded the final six outs to record the save. Price walked two and struck out two.

AUGUSTANA 18, ELMHURST 6 (Game Two) – Elmhurst scored the first six runs of the game, but Augustana responded with 18 unanswered runs to put score an 18-6 win in seven innings.

Elmhurst jumped on the scoreboard early with six runs in the top of the first. The Bluejays batted around in the inning and used RBI singles from
Austin MacMillan,
A.J. Compton, Wilson and
Evan Berliner to build a 4-0 lead. Wick added a two-run double to stake Elmhurst to a six run lead.

The Bluejays' lead quickly evaporated as the Vikings batted around in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs to cut Elmhurst's lead down to one. Mitch Ruh sparked the Vikings in the inning with a two-run homer.

A three-run blast from Mike Avella put Augustana in front 8-6. Augustana posted seven runs in the bottom of the fourth with Doughty delivering a three-run homer. The Vikings added two runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth to put the game away.

A.J. Compton led Elmhurst at the plate with three hits while Kressner finished with two.
Nick Drago took the loss for Elmhurst, working 3.1 innings and surrendering 12 hits and 11 runs.
