DECATUR, Ill. – A.J. Compton cracked a pair of home runs and drove in seven to lead the Elmhurst baseball team to a 17-6 road win over Millikin University.
Elmhurst upped its record to 12-9 overall and 6-2 in the CCIW with the victory.
The Bluejays broke a scoreless contest with five runs in the top of the third.
James Wick came home to score on a Millikin error to start the scoring.
Reagan McReynolds and
Ben Havel added back-to-back RBI doubles to give Elmhurst a 3-0 lead before Compton belted his first homer of the day, a two-run shot, to cap the five-run frame.

Millikin answered back with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing on an Elmhurst error to score two unearned runs. The Bluejays took all three runs back in the top of the fifth as Compton slugged a three-run homer to put Elmhurst back in front by five at 8-3.

An RBI single from McReynolds and a sacrifice fly from Havel in the sixth gave the Bluejays a 10-3 advantage. Millikin pulled to within four runs by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bluejays put the game out of reach in the eighth. Elmhurst sent 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs to open up an 11-run cushion. Compton started the scoring with a two-run single. Two batters later,
Trey Compton drove in two with a single.
Evan Berliner also added an RBI for the Bluejays in the eighth.

A.J. Compton powered Elmhurst at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with two homers, seven RBIs and three runs scored. He also stole a base in the victory. McReynolds and
Brandon Kressner recorded three hits apiece in the contest. Kressner stole a base and scored a team-leading four runs while McReynolds drove in two and scored two runs while swiping a bag. Havel finished with two hits, three runs scored and two driven in.
Trey Compton also drove in two runs for the Bluejays and stole a base.

Devin Crews led Millikin in the loss with three hits and a run scored.

Austin MacMillan improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory from the mound. MacMillan worked 5.2 innings, scattering 11 hits and six runs (just three earned). He walked two and fanned four.
Nathan Tovell pitched the final 2.1 innings in relief, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out three.
