ELMHURST, Ill. – Four early goals and a stellar afternoon from goalkeeper
Megan Keener led the Elmhurst women's lacrosse team to its first win of the season, 12-9 over Cornell College.

The Bluejays came out of the gates firing with four goals in the first five minutes.
Grace Knoebel and
Ellen Brown both netted a pair of early goals to put Elmhurst ahead 4-0.

The Rams pulled themselves back into the game with a 3-0 run, but the Bluejays scored three of the next five and led 7-5 at halftime.

Cornell outshot Elmhurst 14-12 in the first half, but Keener nine saves to lead the Bluejays defensively.

Elmhurst posted a 4-0 run to open the second half, including three goals in a two-minute span, to build its largest lead. Knoebel and Brown scored the first two of the half before
Annette Stidham quickly buried a pair to put the Bluejays ahead 11-5.

Cornell netted four consecutive goals late in the game to pull within two, but Knoebel added an insurance tally to help Elmhurst hold on to the victory.

Knoebel (career-high five goals) and Brown (four) led the Bluejays offensively, while Stidham added two. The two teams were practically even in almost every statistical category except for saves, where Keener finished with a career-high 14.

Elmhurst travels to Concordia University Chicago this Wednesday, April 5 for a 5:15 p.m. start.
