Grace Knoebel tallied her 20th goal of the season in the Elmhurst women's lacrosse team's 20-1 loss at Carthage College.

Elmhurst slipped to 1-9 overall and 0-1 in the CCIW after dropping its conference-opener. Carthage upped its record to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in league play with the win.

Carthage started quickly, using a Mackenzie Day goal just 28 seconds into the contest. Day netted her second goal just a minute later to put the Lady Reds in front 2-0. Carthage rattled off four straight goals over a 2:30 span to extend their lead to 6-0. The Lady Reds closed the half with eight straight goals to build a 14-0 lead at the break.

Knoebel broke Carthage's scoring run with her team-leading 20th goal of the season just 4:35 into the second half. The goal was Elmhurst's only tally of the game as Carthage scored the game's final six goals to pull away for the 20-1 victory.

Carthage outshot Elmhurst 37-7 and had a 28-11 edge in ground balls.

Knoebel led Elmhurst in the loss with one goal and five shots.
Annette Stidham and
Megan Keener added three ground balls for Elmhurst. Keener recorded 13 saves for the Bluejays in net.

Maddie Griffin paced Carthage with eight points, totaling three goals and five assists. Day added six points, finishing with five goals and an assist. Nicole Bowman totaled five points with four goals and an assist. Maggie Allen recorded four saves to earn the win in goal.
Elmhurst hosts the University of Dallas tomorrow (April 9) at 12:00 p.m.
