ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team slipped to 2-5 in the CCIW following a 9-0 shutout loss to Wheaton College.
Wheaton (8-0, 7-0 CCIW) took all three doubles contests and swept the six singles matches en route to the shutout win.
In doubles play, Elmhurst's
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Rachel Rettger suffered an 8-2 loss to Katie Park and Claire Browning at No. 1. Wheaton's Miranda Kay and Sara Magnuson downed Elmhurst's duo of
Chiara Gaudio and
Kathryn Wheeler 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. The Bluejays' pairing of
Meg Simon and
Dacey Maglaque fell 8-4 to Emma Lindquist and Nicole Freeman at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Gaudio fell 6-2, 6-1 to Park at No. 1 while Gonzaga suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss to Magnuson at No. 2. Kay defeated Rettger 6-0, 6-2 at No.3 while Emma Westwick scored a 6-0, 6-3 win over Wheeler at No. 4. Browning dispatched Maglaque 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 while Lindquist scored a 6-0, 6-2 win over
Bridget Lopez at No. 6.
Elmhurst plays at Carroll University on Saturday, October 14.
