MONMOUTH, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team upped its record to 3-5 on the season by scoring a 9-0 shutout win at Monmouth College.
Elmhurst swept all six singles contests and the three doubles matches en route to the win.Â
In doubles play,
Ysabel Gonzaga and
Rachel Rettger scored a 9-7 win over Katherine Hinman and Emma Johanns at No. 1.
Chiara Gaudio and
Kathryn Wheeler cruised to an 8-0 shutout victory over Morgan Holle and Lexi Tibbs at No. 2.
Dacey Maglaque and
Meg Simon closed doubles play with an 8-3 win over McKenzie DeVilder and Haley Johnston at No. 3.Â
In singles action, Gaudio downed Hinman 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 while Gonzaga knocked off Johanns 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2. Rettger breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 win over DeVilder at No. 3 while Wheeler coasted to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Holle at No. 4. Maglaque dispatched Tibbs 6-0, 6-4 at No. 5 while Lopez outlasted Natalie Curtis 6-2, 4-6, 13-11 in three sets at No. 6 singles.Â
Elmhurst hosts Wheaton College on Monday, October 9.Â
