KENOSHA, Wis. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team slid to 2-4 in the CCIW after suffering a 5-0 road loss at Carthage College.
Carthage (8-6-2, 2-2-1) scored three times in the first half and tacked on two insurance goals in the second half to pull away for the win.
Jerry Patino scored in the 11th minute to stake Carthage to a 1-0 lead. Kevin Reilly added a goal in the 18th minute and Adrian Herrera made it 3-0 with a goal in the 24th minute.
Herrera and Patino tacked on insurance goals four minutes apart in the second half for the Red Men.
Carthage outshot Elmhurst 20-8 in the contest.
Nick King took the loss for Elmhurst, allowing three goals while making four saves in 55 minutes of action.
Donnie Kvien finished up in net for Elmhurst, surrendering two goals in 35 minutes.
Nike Marvrogiannis earned the shutout in net for Carthage with two saves.
Elmhurst (7-6-2 overall) hosts Carroll University on Saturday, October 21.
