ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team rode a pair of first-half
Zach Clements' goals to a 2-1 victory over the Illinois Institute of Technology at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst upped its record to 7-5-2 overall with the victory while IIT slid to 9-4-1
Clements scored twice in the first half for the Bluejays' only goals of the contest. Clements collected a rebound of a
JD Garnett shot and scored just 6:21 into the contest to put Elmhurst in front 2-1.
Just 15 minutes later, Clements netted his second goal of the game, scoring off of assists from Garnett and
Oliver Saile.
IIT cut the lead in half six minutes into the second half on a Peter Fouchet goal, but the Scarlet Hawks could not find the equalizer as Elmhurst held on for the 2-1 win.
Elmhurst outshot IIT 13-7 in the contest, holding an 8-4 edge in the first half and a 5-3 advantage in the second.
Nick King earned the win in goal for the Bluejays by stopping three shots.
Elmhurst travels to Carthage College on Wednesday, October 18.
