ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's soccer team slipped to 2-3 in the CCIW after surrendering four late goals in a 4-0 loss to Wheaton College.

Wheaton (6-7, 2-2 CCIW) scored four times in the final 15 minutes to blow the game open.

Both teams had scoring chances in the opening half but neither could crack the scoreboard. Wheaton had a scoring chance in the 19th minute when Will Woodfin lofted a shot from 35 yards out into the back of the net, but Woodfin was ruled to be offside, negating the goal.

Elmhurst had a pair of chances in the first half on two
Josh Arvidson headers, but Wheaton keeper Haston Biddlecome made two leaping saves to keep the game scoreless at the half.

Wheaton outshot Elmhurst (6-5-2 overall) 17-6 in the second half and turned the game one-sided in the final 15 minutes. Peter Whallon started the scoring off an AJ Moyes assist in the 76
th minute. Eight minutes later Max Carey blasted home a shot from 35 yards out to give the Thunder a two-goal cushion.

Two minutes later, Jacob Kapitaniuk knocked home his own rebound off a shot to give the Thunder a three goal lead. With less than a minute remaining, Will Woodfin scored to make the final score 4-0 for the Thunder.

Wheaton outshot the Bluejays 23-10 in the contest while Elmhurst maintained a 7-6 edge in corner kicks.

Nick King recorded four saves in goal for Elmhurst while Biddlecome stopped seven shots in the shutout for the Thunder. Â
