Elmhurst scored two more times to take a 4-0 halftime lead. A short clear attempt came right to JD Garnett who fired from distance to net his second tally of the year. Then, Andrew Hicks made a nice play to head a Nick Fecci long ball back into a dangerous area and Keegan Thompson redirected it into the back of the net.

The Storm (6-3-1) came out of the gates firing in the second half, scoring twice in a six-minute span to cut the deficit in half. Garrett Pochup tallied both goals from the penalty spot.

Garnett put the Bluejays ahead 5-2 in style. In the 70th minute, he collected a pass from David Bez and buried a rocket into the right upper 90 from 30 yards out.

Simpson narrowly outshot Elmhurst 16-15, but the Bluejays put more attempts on frame (9-7), while also leading 9-4 in corner kicks.

Nick King made five saves in net for Elmhurst, including stopping a couple of dangerous Simpson chances to keep momentum on the Bluejays' side. The Storm's Colton Nickell and Chris Harris combined for four saves.

Elmhurst opens up CCIW play this Wednesday when they take on Augustana at 5:00 p.m.
