ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team dropped to 3-2-2 on the season after falling 2-1 to Concordia University (Wis.).
Elmhurst grabbed an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the 26th minute.
Sam Johnson split a pair of defenders and found an open
Didrik Cooper-Seip on the outside. Cooper-Seip beat Concordia keeper Killian Mieltoz to the far post to put Elmhurst on top 1-0.Â
Concordia scored the equalizer in the 52nd minute when Luis Loya slipped a touch pass to Colin Dibb down the middle. Dibb broke past the Elmhurst defense and and scored in a one-on-one situation.
The Falcons took advantage of a red card on Elmhurst in the 56th minute to outshoot Elmhurst for the remainder of the game. Iven Hernandez scored the game-winninng goal in the 71st minute after scoring on a rebound off a shot from Sean Cropper.Â
The Falcons outshot Elmhurst 23-9 in the contest, including an 18-5 edge in the second half while they played with a man-up for nearly 35 minutes.Â
King recorded seven saves in goal for the Bluejays while Nate Yeager earned the win in net for Concordia by playing a scoreless second half and recording two saves.
Elmhurst travels to IIT on Friday, September 23.Â
