RICHMOND, Ind. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team opened the 2016 season with a 3-0 shutout road victory over Earlham College.
Elmhurst (1-0) was outshot by Hanover (0-1) 10-7 in the game, but the Bluejays were the only team to find the back of the net.
Jake Cohen put the Bluejays on the scoreboard in the 39th minute after scoring off a feed from
Andrew Hicks. Hicks made it 2-0 just 90 seconds later after Cohen returned the favor with an assist.
Zach Clements gave Elmhurst a three-goal cushion in the the 68th minute after scoring off a
JD Garnett assist.Â
Donnie Kvien earned the shutout in goal for the Bluejays while making his first collegiate start. Kvien stopped the only shot on goal he faced. Nicola Manni recorded one save and allowed three goals in the net for Earlham.Â
Elmhurst wraps up its two-game Indiana road trip by playing at Anderson University on September 3.Â
