WHEATON, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team rallied from a first-half deficit to play John Carroll University to a 1-1 tie at Wheaton College's Bob Baptista Tournament.
The Bluejays remained undefeated on the season with the tie, moving to 3-0-2 overall. John Carroll moved to 2-1-1 on the season.
John Carroll controlled most of the action in the opening half, outshooting Elmhurst 9-1 and taking a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute after Justin Paalman scored off a Hayden Parente corner kick.
Elmhurst turned the table in the second half, outshooting John Carroll 10-3. The Bluejays scored the equalizer in the 68th minute when
JD Garnett sent a low cross to
Matt McNamara and McNamara found the back of the net.
The Bluejays outshot John Carroll 2-1 in the two overtime periods, but neither squad managed to score resulting in the 1-1 draw.
Both teams finished the contest with 13 shots. Elmhurst held an 8-4 edge in corner kicks.
Nick King recorded five saves in goal for the Bluejays while Liam McIntosh stopped five shots in net for John Carroll.
Elmhurst hosts the University of Chicago on Friday, September 16.Â
