NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A banged up Elmhurst women's lacrosse team slipped to 0-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin following an 18-0 shutout loss at North Central College.
Multiple injuries forced the Bluejays to play shorthanded for the entire contest at North Central (10-2) took advantage, outshooting Elmhurst 46-4 in the contest en route to the 18-goal victory.Â
Elmhurst limited the Cardinals to just three goals in the first 12 minutes of action, but the Cardinals scored four times in a six minute span to pad their lead up to seven. North Central added four more goals before the half to lead 11-0 at the break. The Cardinals tacked on seven goals in the second half to pull away for the 18-0 win.
Grace Knoebel took the loss in the net for the Bluejays despite recording a season-high 21 saves to go with six ground balls.Â
Madison Maas paced the Cardinals with eight points on five goals and three assists. Claire Norfleet added four goals and two assists to finish with six points.Â
Elmhurst (3-7) hosts Cornell College on Saturday, April 16.Â
