ALBION, Mich. – The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team slipped to 1-1 on the season following a 17-3 road loss at Albion College.

Albion (1-3) scored less than two minutes into the contest of a Julie Wood goal and the Brittons never looked back. Albion scored nine times in the game's first 15 minutes and scored the first 10 goals before the Bluejays got on the scoreboard. A
Phoebe LeRoy goal with just under nine minutes made the score 10-1. A goal from
Meghan Keyes with four minutes remaining, made the score 12-2 in favor of Albion at the half.
Albion scored the first goal of the second half to open up a 13-3 lead before the Bluejays took advantage of an Albion penalty to score. LeRoy netted her second goal of the game on the advantage off an assist from
Ellen Brown.
The Brittons tacked on four more goals to earn the 17-3 win.
Albion outshot Elmhurst 36-11 in the contest and put 30 of their 36 shots on goal. The Brittons finished with a 14-8 edge in draw controls and a 22-11 advantage in ground balls. The Bluejays struggled to hang on to the ball, committing 26 turnovers in the loss.
LeRoy paced Elmhurst in the loss with two goals while Keyes accounted for the Bluejays' remaining goal. Brown recorded the Bluejays' lone assist in the loss.Â
Grace Knoebel recorded 13 saves in goal for the Bluejays.
Wood powered Albion's attack, totaling a team-leading seven points on six goals and one assist. Cait Gaitley and Lauren Wiegand finished with three goals apiece while Kadie Koolwick and Alex Radzville tacked on two goals each. Vicotia Della pia recorded seven saves in goal for the Brittons while earning the win.
Elmhurst travels to John Carroll University next Saturday, March 12, for a 1:00 p.m. contest.Â
