Women's Lacrosse Team Falls at Meredith

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Elmhurst women's lacrosse team opened its two-game road trip to North Carolina with a 19-1 loss to Meredith College.

Playing with one player short due to injuries, the Bluejays quickly fell into an early hole as Meredith (10-1) scored four times in the first two minutes and 11 times in the first 10 minutes en route to a 15-0 lead at halftime.

Meredith tacked on a goal early in the second half to increase their lead to 16-0. Phoebe LeRoy ended the shutout by scoring with a free position shot with 23 minutes left in the half. Meredith added three additional goals in the half to pull away for the 19-1 victory.

Meredith outshot Elmhurst 32-2 in the contest and had a 21-8 edge in ground balls.

LeRoy recorded both of Elmhurst's shots in the loss. Jolynn Alvarez and Annette Stidham totaled two ground balls apiece. Grace Knoebel took the loss in net while recording 13 saves.

Cierra Mozer paced Meredith's attack with four goals while Katie Burnet added three goals and an assist. Katherine Sills earned the win in goal for the Avenging Angels by recording one save.
