ELMHURST, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan scored a late goal to beat the Elmhurst men's soccer team 2-1.

Tied at one in the 85th minute, Doug Ballard's second goal ended up being the game-winner. He received a pass from Mason Meier on the right side and fired a ground ball shot to the far post just passed the fingertips of
Nick King.

Ballard also put Illinois Wesleyan on the board in the 15th minute. Meier dropped a pass to Jason Yaeger who sent a cross that was volleyed in by Ballard.

Elmhurst equalized in the 25th minute on a rocket by
Andrew Hicks.
Lucas Wetherby Jonsson sent a throw in that
Tanner Hendrix headed to Hicks who fired a shot from 25 yards out inside the right post.

The Bluejays had a couple of good chances to take the lead late, but a team save and a ball that rolled just wide of the post kept the Titans level before Ballard won the game.

The Titans outshot Elmhurst 15-14 and 9-3 in shots on goal. Elmhurst's
Nick King made seven saves for Elmhurst, while Illinois Wesleyan used two keepers and Alex Ruckstaetter made one save in getting the win.

Elmhurst travels to Wheaton this Wednesday for another CCIW battle.
