Nick King totaled a season-high nine saves and
JD Garnett finished with a goal and an assist as the Elmhurst men's soccer team defeated North Central 3-1.

Garnett put the Bluejays (6-3-3, 1-1-1 CCIW) ahead in the 18th minute. After
Keegan Thompson's shot was blocked by the North Central (2-7-1, 0-2-0 CCIW) defense,
Austin Larsen sent in a cross that was headed on by
Alec Gnass. Garnett controlled the ball with his chest and fired a second touch shot inside the far post for his fourth goal of the season.

Elmhurst held the advantage throughout the half with some stellar goalkeeping from King. The Cardinals had six shots in the half and they were all saved by King to keep Elmhurst in front 1-0 at halftime.

The Bluejays found the net again less than three minutes into the second half. Garnett threaded a low, diagonal pass to Larsen who buried his first of the season. Elmhurst extended a three-goal lead in the 69th minute on a 30-yard rocket from
Lucas Wetherby Jonsson.

The Cardinals put one on the board in the 71st minute. Chandler Olah benefited from a deflection and beat King to the left.

North Central outshot Elmhurst 15-12 and 10-8 in shots on goal. King's nine saves earned him the win. Sebastian Garcia ended up stopping five Elmhurst shots.

The Bluejays host Illinois Wesleyan University this Saturday, October 8 as a part of a homecoming tripleheader at 5:15 p.m.
