ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's soccer team wrapped up its home schedule with a 3-0 loss to 14th-ranked Carthage.

The Red Men (13-3-0, 5-0-0 CCIW) took the lead early when Johnny Rimkus used a sliding shot to poke a sitting ball past Elmhurst keeper
Nick King. Carthage extended its lead in the 19th minute when Giles Phillips sent a cross that was stopped and shot inside the far post by Austin Bitta.

In the second half, the Red Men put their third tally on the board as Bitta threaded a penetrating pass to Ivan Esquivel who took a touch to pass King and then finished.

Elmhurst (7-6-3, 2-3-1 CCIW) had a couple of solid scoring chances, including a header from Gnass in the opening minutes that Carthage keeper Brayan Arce Justiniano saved on a dive. In the second half,
Luke Deel hit a couple of hard shots that were blocked inside the box by the Carthage defense.

Carthage outshot the Bluejays 21-5, including 11-1 in shots on goal.
Nick King stopped eight shots, while Justiniano made one save.

Elmhurst travels to Carroll University this Saturday, October 22 for a 7:30 p.m. start.
