DECATUR, Ill. - Millikin's Austin Taylor scored the game-winning goal with just 17 seconds left to play to deal the Elmhurst men's soccer team a 2-1 loss.
Elmhurst slipped to 5-3-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCIW while Millikin moved to 7-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.Â
Elmhurst needed little time to get on the scoreboard first.
Zach Clements netted his second goal of the season off an assist from
Didrik Cooper-Seip just 10:55 into the contest.Â
Millikin pulled even 10 minutes later when Trey Knighton scored off a Ben Spelman assist.
Millikin scored the game-winner with 17 seconds left when Taylor connected off a Michael Longo corner kick.Â
Elmhurst outshot Millikin 12-11 in the contest, including a 9-5 edge in the second half.Â
Nick King took the loss in goal for Elmhurst, surrendering two goals while recording four saves. Trevor Creek earned the win in net for the Big Blue, allowing one goal while making six saves.Â
Elmhurst hosts North Central College on Wednesday, October 5.Â
