HANOVER, Ind. - The Elmhurst men's soccer led for almost 70 minutes but came up short in a 2-1 overtime loss at Hanover College.
Elmhurst slipped to 1-5-1 on the season with the loss while Hanover improved to 3-4.
The Bluejays struck first in the 16th minute as
Nick Fecci sent a pass through the box to an open
Jake Cohen. Cohen connected on the goal, staking the Bluejays to a quick 1-0 lead.
Elmhurst made the lead hold up for nearly 70 minutes until Matthew Eldridge scored the equalizer off a feed from Dominic Isadore in the 86th minute.
The Bluejays were whistled for a foul in the box in overtime, giving Hanover a penalty kick. Enrico Franchini converted the penalty kick to hand the contest to Hanover.
Nick King recorded two saves in goal while taking the loss for Elmhurst. Rafael DiMaio earned the win in net for Hanover with four saves.
Elmhurst plays at the University of Dubuque on Tuesday, September 22.
