Elmhurst and Albion Play to Scoreless Draw

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst men's soccer team out shot Albion 17-11, but played to a scoreless draw.

In the first half, the two teams combined for 12 shots (eight for Elmhurst, four for Albion), but the Bluejays provided the only two shots on frame. Jake Cohen had the best chance of the half, hitting a shot from the right side that Albion goalkeeper Justin Kraft steered aside.

In the second half, the Brittons had a couple of late chances to break the scoreless tie, but could not convert. In the 80th minute, Mitchell Palmer sent a header just high off a corner kick. A couple of minutes later, Nick King kept the game scoreless making a key save on a one-on-one attempt from Gabe Martinez.

With the final seconds of regulation ticking away, Jeff Kading ripped a shot that looked destined for the net, but Kraft made a sprawling save to send the game to extra time.

In the second overtime, Kading had another chance from 20 yards out that just missed the frame.

The Bluejays put four shots on goal to Albion's two. Elmhurst's King made two saves in recording his first shutout of the season, while Albion's Kraft stopped four Bluejay chances.

Elmhurst will hit the road next week to face Spaulding University (Ky.) on Saturday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time.
