ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team surrendered five runs over the final two innings while dropping a 6-2 contest to North Park University.

Elmhurst (12-26, 5-14 CCIW) did not help its own cause, committing six errors in the field, resulting in five unearned runs for North Park (17-21, 6-13 CCIW). The Vikings capitalized on an Elmhurst error in the second to grab a 1-0 lead on a Alec Strachota ground out.

Elmhurst answered with two runs in the bottom of the third, tying the game on an
A.J. Compton RBI single. A two-out error on North Park allowed Compton to score from second and put the Bluejays in front 2-1.
The Bluejays made the one-run lead hold up through seven innings, before North Park broke the game open late. A leadoff error in the eighth innings, resulted in the Vikings tying the game on a Nate Simons' run-scoring single. Mitchell Jordan followed with a two-run homer to put the Vikings in front 4-2.

After a one-out error in the ninth allowed Strachota to reach in the ninth, the Vikings extended their lead to four runs on a Dan Sabin two-run homer.

Jeff Guzzi made the start for Elmhurst and earned a no-decision. Guzzi limited the Vikings to only four hits and one unearned run over seven innings of work. He walked two and struck out five.
Daryl Rivera took the loss in relief, allowing four hits and five runs (just one earned) in two innings of work.

Jason Meger earned the win for North Park, improving to 4-4 on the season. Meger went the distance, allowing just five hits and two runs (one earned) in nine innings pitched. He did not issue a walk and struck out five.
