MILWAUKEE, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team pounded out 16 hits and scored nine runs, but came up short in a 12-9 loss at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Elmhurst slipped to 12-25 with the loss while MSOE improved to 9-28 overall.

The Bluejays grabbed a 2-0 lead after a solo homer from
Ben Havel in the first and a solo shot from
Christian Ott in the second.

MSEO stormed back scoring four times in the bottom of the second and adding a pair of runs in the third to grab a 6-2 lead. Elmhurst pulled even at six courtesy of a pair of long balls in the fifth inning.
Zach Tsiodras blasted a three-run shot and
Greg Struck followed with a solo blast to knot the score at 6-6.

MSOE reclaimed the lead on a run-scoring groundout from Jake Roberts in the bottom of the fifth. The Raiders tacked on four runs in the sixth, keyed by a two-run homer from Jimmy Carrington.

An RBI single from
A.J. Compton and a two-run single from
Austin MacMillan in the seventh brought he Bluejays to within two runs at 11-9, but MSOE tacked on an insurance run in the eighth to score the 12-9 victory.

Tsiodras led the Bluejays at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with a run scored and three RBIs. Havel added two hits and scored three runs while
Brandon Kressner collected three hits for the Bluejays.

Jason Burant finished 4-for-4 with three RBIs to pace MSOE at the plate. Ryan Miller added three hits and scored four runs for the Raiders.

Mike Rostine made the start and took a no-decision for the Bluejays. Rostine worked 2.1 innings and allowed eight hits and three earned runs.
Justin Luzzi was tagged with the loss, after allowing two hits and three runs in three innings of relief.

Elmhurst hosts North Park University on Friday, May 1, in the Bluejays' final home game of the season.
