ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Elmhurst baseball team surrendered four runs in the bottom of the seventh to fall to Rockford University by a final score of 5-3.
 
Elmhurst (10-22) scored all three of its runs in the top of the first. Greg Struck singled home a run with two outs to put Elmhurst on the scoreboard. Edgar Ross followed with a two-run double to stake the Bluejays to a three-run cushion
 
Rockford got on the scoreboard with a run in the fifth, but the Regents broke things open in the seventh. The Regents loaded the bases with one out and a single by Robert Smith scored a run, but Ben Havel gunned down a runner at the plate to record the second out. Cole Logemann put Rockford in front with a triple that drove in two runs. Logemann took advantage of an Elmhurst error on the play to score and give Rockford a 5-3 victory.
 
Evan Berliner and Havel collected two hits apiece for the Bluejays in the loss.
 
Mike Rostine made the start for the Bluejays and took a no-decision, throwing 6.1 innings and surrendering six hits and three runs (two earned). He walked two and struck out three. Daryl Rivera suffered the loss in relief, allowing two runs (one earned) and two hits in 1.2 innings pitched.
 
Josh Cooper pitched three scoreless innings for Rockford (17-16) to earn the victory.
