ELMHURST, Ill. - After a promising start, the Elmhurst women's lacrosse team was denied in its bid for its first-ever victory, falling to John Carroll University 13-2 at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst (0-3) started strong, keeping John Carroll (2-1) off the scoreboard for over 10 minutes and taking a 1-0 lead on
Nikki Togami's free position goal.

Nikki TogamiJohn Carroll picked up its offense after the goal as the Blue Streaks scored five straight goals in a six-minute span to surge in front 6-1. The Bluejays streaks added three more goals to build a 9-1 lead before Togami netted her third goal of the season on a feed from Megan lees to make the score 9-2 at the half.
Caroline Seekings, Grace Curatolo, Gina Vilsack, Meghan Harte and Roserita DiMillo all tallied second half goals for John Carroll while the Blue Streaks pulled away for the 11-goal victory.
John Carroll outshot Elmhurst 26-11 in the contest as the Bluejays struggled to hold on to the ball, committing 34 turnovers in the loss. Elmhurst was successful on just 12-of-22 clearing attempts while John Carroll finished 13-of-18 clears.
Togami accounted for both of Elmhurst's goals in the loss while Lees' assist accounted for the Bluejays' final point.
Grace Knoebel recorded 10 saves in goal for the Bluejays.
Curatolo and Vilsack paced John Carroll's attack. Curatolo netted four goals and tallied an assist to finish with five points. Vilsack added three goals and an assist to total four points. Annamae Bolen added four points on one goal and three assists. DiMillo (two goals), Harte (one goal, one assist), Chelsea Jackson (two assists) and Seekings (one goal one assist) all totaled multiple points in the victory.
Elmhurst hosts Aurora University on Wednesday, March 18.
