ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's lacrosse team dropped to 1-2 on the season after suffering a 16-3 loss to Concordia University (Wis.) at Langhorst Field.
Concordia (1-2) put Elmhurst in a deep hole early as the Falcons scored three times in the first five minutes of action and tallied the first 12 goals of the game before Elmhurst cracked the scoreboard. Elmhurst trailed 11-0 at the half and the Falcons added a quick strike from Marino Best in the second half to take a 12-0 lead.

Alex OpydMatt Westhaver broke the scoreless drought for the Bluejays with an unassisted goal with 8:32 left in the third quarter. Concordia scored the game's next three goals before Elmhurst posted back-to-back tallies.
Jackson Mandli netted his second goal of the season late in the third quarter and
Alex Opyd found the back of the net off a
Mal Euson assist early in the fourth quarter. Concordia's James Warner scored the game's final goal less than a minute later to make the final score 16-3 in favor of the Falcons.
Concordia outshot Elmhurst 40-24 and totaled 28 ground balls to the Bluejays' 24. The Falcons were dominant on faceoffs, winning 16-of-22 for the contest, including 12-of-13 in the opening half. Concordia also scored twice on three extra-man advantages.Â
Colin Raley paced Concordia's offense, scoring six times in the contest. David Mueller totaled six points on three goals and three assists while Zachary Foster tallied a pair of goals. Matt Garvey finished with four assists for Concordia.
Nick Bonastia took the loss in goal for the Bluejays. He totaled 11 saves and six ground balls in the loss. Thomas Mueller earned the win for the Falcons, stopping six shots and allowing just one goal in 41 minutes.
Elmhurst will look to bounce back from the loss on Saturday, March 14, when the Bluejays travel to Carroll University. The game is scheduled at 1:00 p.m.Â
