Men's Soccer Beats IWU for Third Consecutive Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team tied its longest win streak of the season with a 2-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan.

The Bluejays (7-8-1, 3-2-0 CCIW) used two first-half goals to defeat the Titans (5-9-2, 1-5-1 CCIW).

Alec Gnass netted his fourth goal in CCIW play this season in the 12th minute off of a penalty kick. Josh Arvidson added to the Elmhurst lead in the 21st minute. He took an initial shot that was saved, but was able to tap in the rebound for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Nick King (six saves) and the Elmhurst defense took the game over from there, recording the team's fourth shutout.

Illinois Wesleyan out shot Elmhurst 15-12, including 6-5 in shots on goal. Craig Kym made three saves in net for the Titans.

Elmhurst, who sits in fourth in the CCIW standings, hosts North Park in a key conference contest this Wednesday, October 28. It is also the Bluejays' final home game of the regular season.
