ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team won its second game in a row, downing Maranatha Baptist 5-0.Â
The Bluejays scored their first goal in the opening minutes.
Sam Johnson shook a defender on the right side of the field and centered a pass to a wide open
Austin Larsen who finished to the far post.Â
Lucas Wetherby-Jonsson tallied his first goal of the season in the 28th minute to put Elmhurst up 2-0.
Andrew Hicks played a beautiful ball from the left side of the field to Wetherby Jonsson, who lifted a header over the keeper.Â
Elmhurst extneded its lead after hafltime as
Andrew Moore netted his second of the season.
Austin Larsen lifted a free kick that was headed toward goal by
Nick Fecci and in by Moore.Â
Moore added another goal for the Bluejays in the 71st minute on a penalty shot. Maranatha Baptist fouled
Angel Carreno in the box to set up Moore from the spot.
Josh Arvidson netted his fifth goal of the season late to put Elmhurst up 5-0. His shot bounced off a defender and found its way inside the far post.Â
The Bluejays out shot Maranatha Baptist 17-6.
Nick King recorded the shutout in goal, making two saves. Charles Leeds stopped three shots in goal for the Sabercats.Â
Elmhurst continues CCIW play by traveling to Illinois Wesleyan this Saturday, October 24 for a 3:30 p.m. matchup with the Titans.Â
