Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team dropped to 2-2 on the season after suffering a 1-0 shutout loss to 19th-ranked Calvin College at Langhorst Field.
John ReglinCalvin (2-2) broke a scoreless tie just 1:27 before the end of the first half. Travis Vegter corralled a ball outside the top of Elmhurst box and fired a shot past a diving
John Reglin into the lower corner of the net.
Calvin outshot Elmhurst 8-6 in the opening half and continued to pressure the Bluejays early in the second. Reglin kept the Bluejays in the contest, recording five saves in the second half to keep the Knights' lead at one.
The Bluejays' best scoring chance came in the 70th minute.
Michael Delong broke into the box from the outside and slid a pass to
Ben Swanson-Ralph in the middle. Swanson-Ralph pushed the shot just wide.
Calvin outshot Elmhurst 17-9 in the contest, including a 9-3 advantage in the second half. Reglin totaled seven saves in goal for the Bluejays while Calvin keeper Niko Giantsopoulos stopped all four shots he faced.
Elmhurst travels to Albion College on Wednesday, September 10. It marks the third straight contest against a MIAA opponent.
