Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Elmhurst volleyball team, ranked 11th in the latest AVCA Division III poll, improved to 15-2 on the season with a 22-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-21 win over Kalamazoo College at the University of Chicago Tournament.
Elmhurst started flat in the opening set, falling behind 4-0 and 12-6. The Bluejays pulled to within a point with a 10-5 run, but Kalamazoo answered back with a 4-0 run to extend its lead to 21-16 before putting the first set away.

Melissa NavaThe Bluejays started strong in the second set, winning seven of the first 10 points to take a four-point lead. Leading 10-8, the Bluejays used a 7-1 run to take a comfortable 17-9 lead before cruising to the 11-point victory.
The third set started similar to the second as Elmhurst opened play by winning 8 of the first 10 points to take a six-point advantage. Kalamazoo closed to within two points at 8-6, but Elmhurst pushed its lead back to four at 15-11 but the Bluejays closed the set on a 10-5 run to take the third set.
Kalamazoo (6-8) built an early lead in the fourth, opening up a 9-5 advantage and forcing Elmhurst to burn a timeout. The Bluejays responded with a 7-3 lead to pull even at 12-12. The two teams traded points until the score was even at 21-21. A pair of errors from Kalamazoo and kills by

Hannah Nimrick wrapped up the set and the match for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst hit .189 as a team with 46 kills and 23 errors in 122 swings.
Melissa Nava powered the Bluejays' attack with 12 kills and seven blocks.
Sam Szarmach added 10 kills and five digs while
Hannah Nimrick and
Jackie Pavilonis finished with seven kills apiece. Nimrick added a team-leading 37 assists to go with four blocks.
Peggy Clemens led the Bluejays in digs with 18 while
Amy Schryver chipped in with 13.
Nya Greenstone led Kalamazoo in the loss with 19 kills and seven digs. Kelsey Hill added nine kills for the Hornets.
Elmhurst faces #25 Cornell College at 8:00 p.m. in the Bluejays' final match of the Chicago tournament.Â
