Bluejays Play Kalamazoo to 1-1 Draw

Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team played Kalamazoo College to 1-1 draw to move to 3-2-1 on the season.

Elmhurst jumped on the scoreboard first as Brett Stiffler scored off of a Derek Dedman feed just 12:30 into the match. The Bluejays had a chance to add to their lead in the in 81st minute, but Alec Gnass' shot ricocheted off the goal post.

The Bluejays made the lead hold up for the next 70 minutes, but a late goal from Kalamazoo evened the score. Noah Brushaw scored with 1:46 left in regulation off of a pass from Jackson Greenstone to level the match at one.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in either of the two 10 minute overtime periods resulting in a 1-1 draw. Elmhurst nearly had a game winner near in the end of the first overtime period, but Mike Emig's shot was knocked away by a Kalamazoo defender.

Kalamazoo (2-2-1) outshot Elmhurst 20-9 in the contest, including 6-1 in overtime.

John Reglin stopped 10 shots in goal for the Bluejays while Griffin Hamel finished with two saves for Kalamazoo.

Elmhurst hosts Dominican University tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
