ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst women's tennis team dropped to 4-5 on the season after suffering a 9-0 shutout loss to Augustana College.
Augustana (11-0, 6-0 CCIW) remained undefeated on the season by sweeping all six singles contests and the three doubles contests.
In doubles play, Lauren Goggin and Dana Goggin edged Elmhurst's
Cassie Kovach and
Meg Griffin 8-6 at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, the Vikings' duo of Aileen MacDonald and Kim Sawyer defeated
Annie Duggan and
Nicole Darga 8-4. The Vikings' tandum of Miranda Pence and Chelsea Lavin downed Elmhurst's
Jennifer Guenther and
Kayla Mangiapane 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Sawyer downed Kovach 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while Lauren Goggin toppled Duggan 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 singles. Dana Goggin followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Darga at No. 3 singles. MacDonald defeated Griffin 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Emily Kaczmarek toppled
Ragan Wilson 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles while Mariah Bardo closed out singles play with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mangiapane.
Elmhurst will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule by competing at the CCIW Championships on October 5-6.
