Box Score NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Kailtyn Wilks and
Marci Novak combined for 28 kills to lead the Elmhurst volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 win over North Central College.
Elmhurst, ranked sixth in the latest AVCA Division III National Poll, improved to 14-1 overall and 1-0 in the CCIW with the win. North Central slipped to 6-10 (0-1 CCIW) with the loss.
The Bluejays built an 18-12 lead in the opening set before cruising to the nine-point win. Elmhurst led by as many as five points in the second set, building a 23-18 cushion. North Central pulled to within a point at 23-22, but back-to-back kills from Wilks and Novak put the set away for the Bluejays. Elmhurst led wire-to-wire in the third set opening up a 12-6 lead and pulling away to take the match.
Wilks and Novak totaled 14 kills apiece in the win. Wilks finished with a match-leading .545 hitting percentage (14-2-22) and a match-high four blocks. Novak also pounded down 14 kills while hitting .480 (14-2-25).
Sam Szarmach added six kills and eight digs for the Bluejays while
Megan Reynolds tallied five kills.
Jess Suarez added four kills for the Bluejays. Lauren Loren totaled a team-leading 19 assists while
Hannah Nimrick and
Katie Rueffer finished with eight assists apiece. Lorenz and three aces in the match while
Hannah Lessen registered a team-leading 12 digs.
North Central was led by Amanda Hilmer's eight kills. Amanda Walked added seven kills for the Cardinals while Laura Klug finished with 26 assists and 10 digs.
