Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - Carroll scored a pair of second-half goals to defeat the Elmhurst men's soccer team 2-1 and hand the Bluejays their first loss in its last six contests.
Elmhurst (4-2-1) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening half after
Michael Delong scored his team-leading fourth goal on a penalty kick. Mikey Emig was racing in for a breakaway when he was pulled down, resulting in Delong's penalty kick.
The Bluejays led 1-0 at the half and outshot Carroll 4-2.
The momentum shifted to Carroll (4-2-1) in the second half as the Pioneers outshot the Bluejays 12-8 in the half. Dan Czernicki evened the score at 1-1 just 7:44 into the half when he headed home a cross from Colton Woyak. The Pioneers jumped in front in the 69th minute when Austin Weigman headed home a cross from Caden Pruitt.
After each team managed just one shot on goal in the opening half, each team put four shots on net in the second half.
John Reglin took the loss in goal for Elmhurst, allowing two goals while stopping five shots. Jacob Tincher earned the win for Carroll, finishing with five saves on the night.
Elmhurst travels to Coe College next Wednesday (September 25).
