Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team opened CCIW play by shutting out Illinois Wesleyan 2-0 behind goals from
Jordan Fletcher and
Andrew Witzofsky.
Elmhurst (7-2-1, 1-0 CCIW) jumped on the scoreboard first just 15 minutes into the game. Fletcher headed home a free kick from
Jeff Kading for his second goal in as many games to put the Bluejays on top 1-0.
The Bluejays held the one-goal cushion until the 55th minute when Andrew Wtizofsky blasted home his first goal of the season off a feed from
Eric Daughtry.
Illinois Wesleyan had a slight 10-7 edge in shots, but the Bluejays had a 6-5 shots-on-goal advantage.
John Reglin recorded his fourth shutout in goal by stopping all five shots he faced. Reglin lowered his goals against average to 0.63 for the year. IWU's Andrew Reed took the loss in the net, allowing two goals while recording four saves.
Elmhurst travels to Westminster College (Mo.) on Wednesday, October 9 for its final non-conference game of the season. The Bluejays resume CCIW play next Saturday (October 12) by hosting Wheaton College.
