Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team remained unbeaten in the CCIW after shutting out Millikin University 1-0 at Langhorst Field.
Elmhurst scored its first victory of the season on its home turf after entering the game with an 0-2-2 mark at home. With the victory, the Bluejays upped their record to 9-2-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the CCIW.
Elmhurst broke a scoreless tie in the 37th minute with the game's only goal. Elmhurst played a corner kick short to
Jeff Kading. Kading sent a cross through the box that was headed by
Shawn Braxton in front of the net where
Brett Stiffler headed the ball into the back of the net to account for the game's only goal.
Millikin (3-9-2, 1-3-1) had several chances to get on the scoreboard but the Big Blue were repeatedly turned away by
John Reglin and the Elmhurst defense. Reglin made a save on a point-blank shot off a corner kick in the opening half. The Elmhurst keeper recorded eight saves in goal to notch his seventh shutout of the season.
The Bluejays and the Big Blue each finished with 15 shots. Elmhurst outshot Millikin 10-5 in the opening 45 minutes and Millikin outshot Elmhurst 10-5 in the second half.
Elmhurst travels to Carthage College on Wednesday, October 23.
