Bluejays Play Eighth-Ranked Wheaton To Scoreless Draw

Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team battled eighth-ranked Wheaton College to a 0-0 double overtime draw at Langhorst Field.

Both teams had chances to get on the board in the opening half but just missed. Wheaton's best chance came 16 minutes into the contest when Jordan Golz headed straight down off of the cross bar. The Bluejays' nearly score two minutes later, but Wheaton keeper Derk Babb made a diving save on Mikey Emig's sharp angle shot.

Babb came up big for the Thunder in the second half as well, sprawling out to save a Michael Delong shot and keep the Bluejays off the scoreboard.

Wheaton outshot Elmhurst 8-3 in the first period and 10-3 in the second half. The Thunder outshot the Bluejays 6-1 in overtime to finish the game with a 24-7 shots advantage.

John Reglin improved to 7-2-2- on the season and recorded his sixth shutout in the net for Elmhurst by stopping all seven shots he faced, including a leaping save in the first overtime. Babb totaled three saves in net for the Thunder.

Elmhurst moved to 8-2-2 on the season and 1-0-1 in league play with the tie while Wheaton moved to 9-3-1, 2-0-1 in the CCIW.

Elmhurst hosts North Park University on Wednesday, October 15.
