Volleyball Team Drops Pair at Washington Tourney

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ST. LOUIS, Mo - The 11th-ranked Elmhurst volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to top-25 teams at the Washington University Invitational.

Elmhurst dropped a three-set match to #23 Otterbein and then closed the tournament with a five-set loss to #12 Wisconsin-Whitewater.

OTTERBEIN 3, ELMHURST 0 - The Bluejays dropped to 5-2 overall following a 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 loss to #22 Otterbein. Sam Szarmach led the Bluejays in the loss with nine kills while Katelyn Wilks chipped in with seven. Megan Reynolds totaled four blocks while Erin Thill finished with 15 assists. Katie Rueffer added 11 assists while Perrie Morgan led the squad in digs with 16. Marci Novak added 11 digs in the loss.

WHITEWATER 3, ELMHURST 2 - The Bluejays held a 2-1 lead after three sets, but UW-Whitewater won the last two sets to take the match and hand Elmhurst its third straight loss. Whitewater won the match with a score of 17-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-25, 15-10.

Reynolds led the way with 14 kills and six blocks. Wilks and Antonéya Veasy Smith finished with 12 kills apiece while Szarmach and Novak finished with seven kills each. Rueffer finished with 22 assists while Thill totaled 22. Morgan led the squad in digs with 21 while Novak finished with 13. Veasy Smith added 10 digs and four aces in the loss.

Elmhurst opens CCIW play by traveling to Millikin University on Tuesday.
