Box Score 2 WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Elmhurst volleyball team ran its winning streak to six and closed out the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater tournament with a perfect 3-0 record by toppling the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Cornell College.
Elmhurst, ranked 11th in the latest AVCA poll, opened the day with a five-set win over UW-Oshkosh, before toppling Cornell in three sets.
ELMHURST 3, UW-OSHKOSH 2 - Elmhurst won the opening two sets and then held off a rally from UW-Oshkosh to come away with the 25-13, 25-14, 19-25, 23-25, 15-12 victory.
Four Bluejays reached double figures in kills.
Megan Reynolds led the Bluejays in the win with 18 kills and four blocks.
Marci Novak added 14 kills while
Sam Szarmach finished with 10. Antonéya Veasy Smith added 10 kills in the win.
Erin Thill finished with a team-leading 42 assists to go along with 11 digs while
Hannah Lessen led the squad in digs with 20.
Perrie Morgan added nine digs while
Jackie Pavilonis totaled a team-leading five blocks.
ELMHURST 3, CORNELL 0 - Elmhurst upended Cornell 25-22, 27-25, 25-21 in a rematch of the Bluejays' first-round 2011 NCAA Tournament match.
Reynolds and Novak finished with 13 kills apiece. Reynolds added four blocks while Novak led the squad in digs with 20. Szarmach added nine kills while
Kaitlyn Wilks finished with eight kills and a team-leading six blocks. Morgan added 14 digs for the Bluejays while
Katie Rueffer led the squad in assists with 20. Thill finished the match with 17 assists for the Bluejays.
Elmhurst continues CCIW play on Tuesday (October 2) by hosting Wheaton College.
