Box Score ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst men's soccer team improved to 5-3 on the season by shutting out Coe College 2-0 at Langhorst Field.
The Bluejays scored a goal late in the first and tacked on an insurance goal in the second half to come away with the two-goal victory.
Nick Hufford netted his first goal of the season by scoring with less than three minutes left in the opening half.
Alex Wilkinson sent a cross through the box to an open Hufford. Hufford trapped the ball and fired it past Coe keeper Eric Hoar to put the Bluejays on top.
The Bluejays put the game away in the 63rd minute when
Christian Mullin scored off of
Andrew Witzofsky's corner kick.
The Bluejays outshot Coe 16-9 in the contest, but Coe (3-5) did not manage a shot on goal.
John Reglin and
Jordan Collier combined in net for the shutout. Reglin played 72 minutes while Collier finished the final 18.
Hoar took the loss for Coe, allowing two goals while stopping six shots.
Elmhurst hosts Concordia University (Wis.) on Monday (September 24).
